Hybrid Buckeye - Aesculus x ambigua
A small hybrid, reaching about 40 feet with a spread of 30 feet, this is a straight-trunked tree with rough gray bark. Tolerant of moist soils, it has the palm-like leaf configuration typical for buckeyes, and very showy yellow flowers accented with red and borne in upright panicles. The fruits are spiny. Autumn color is a coppery-bronze. This hybrid is considered a good ornamental tree for urban landscapes.
